Frequently Asked Questions

The Frequently Asked Questions module is an information aid for constituents and helps reduce the municipal staff workload associated with answering questions.

FAQ's can be easily managed in categories and departments within the web site and can be displayed in either the main web site FAQ section or in department-specific FAQ sections within the web site.

      You can subscribe online to be notified by e-mail when the new Flu Shot Schedules become available, and you can also check online at the Health Department web site section for the dates.

      FAQ's benefit the public by enabling the public to save time by being able to get  information more quickly & efficiently than the more typical & time-consuming methods of telephone calls, written requests or physically traveling to the town to speak with town staff.

    • What type of FAQ's can be posted?
      The town has the flexibility to easily & quickly post FAQ's by category & department. This enables the town to easily manage their FAQ content, and it allows the public to more easily & quickly find answers to their questions & the information they are seeking. 
    • Why post FAQ's on the website?
      By posting a Frequently Asked Question with an associated answer on the website, the town can provide information to the public, and answer their questions, more quickly & efficiently than the more typical methods of telephone calls, written requests or physically traveling to the town to speak with town staff. 

      FAQ's that are department specific can easily & quickly be posted within the departmental websites. This enables the individual departments to offer an enhanced level of service to the public for information & services associated with that department.

    • PAYMENT DUE DATES?
        Quarterly payments become due on August 1st, November 1st, February 1st and May 1st. There is a 10 day grace period each quarter. Payments are due NO later than the 10th of the month of the quarter it's due.

    • FAILURE TO RECEIVE A TAX BILL?

      FAILURE TO RECEIVE A TAX BILL DOES NOT RELIEVE THE OBLIGATION OF THE TAX PAYER.

    • TAX APPEALS?
      Tax Appeals: Tax appeal forms are available and must be filed with the County Board of Taxation by April 1st of the current year at One Bergen County Plaza, 3rd Floor, Hackensack, NJ 07601, please visit www.co.bergen.nj.us or call (201)336-6300.

      In accordance with the provisions of N.J.S.A. 54:4-64, the first half taxes of any year are on the basis of half the taxes of the preceding year.

    • CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS?
      You can now pay your property taxes with a credit card online on the Borough website. A convenience fee of 2.5% will apply.
    • PAYMENT METHODS - HOW CAN I MAKE A TAX PAYMENT?
      You can make a payment in person or by mail using a check, money order, cash or a credit card, or you can make an online tax payment using an electronic-check or credit card.

      For your convenience, we have a drop slot on the left hand side tax counter. These payments are collected no later than 4:30pm every day and the payment is posted the same day. Any payments dropped off after 4:30p.m. will be posted the next business day.

      To avoid statutory interest, tax payments must be received in the Tax Office by the 10th day of the month when a quarter tax payment is due. If the 10th falls on a holiday or weekend, grace period will be extended to the following business day. After that, the interest is retroactive to the 1st of the month in which the payment is due. POSTMARK IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

    • RETURNED CHECKS?
      If your check is returned to us as unprocessed by the bank you will be charged a $25.00 fee.
    • PAYMENT RECEIPTS?
      Your cancelled check is your receipt. If you do require a printed receipt, please send us a stamped, self-addressed envelope, and a receipt will be mailed to you.

      If you make an online tax payment, a digital receipt webpage will be displayed that you can print when the municpality receives your online payment submission.  
    • TAX SALE?
      Any municipal lien remaining unpaid is subject to sale on the 11th day of the 11th month of the current tax year.
    • OWNERSHIP CHANGES?
      WHEN OWNERSHIP OF THE PROPERTY CHANGES, THE TAX BILL IS TO BE FORWARDED TO THE NEW OWNER(S) OR THEIR PAYING AGENT.

    • When (and how often) are Council meetings held?
      Council meetings are held two (2) times per month; on the first and last Tuesdays of each month.

      The first Tuesday meeting within a month is normally the council work session. 

      The last Tuesday meeting within a month is normally the council public session. 
       
    • Where are Council meetings held?
      Council meetings are held in the Council Meeting Room in the Municipal Building on Main Street.
